HDTV + HD ready

High-definition images, provided by HDTV broadcasts or media with HD data sets (e.g. Blu-ray Discs, HD DVDs or HD digital film recordings), represent the most significant advance in picture quality since the introduction of colour television. The European Information and Communications Technology Industry Association (EICTA) has defined minimum requirements that display devices must meet in order to be considered “high definition ready”. The association has also created an “HD ready” label for use in stores on products that meet these criteria and are therefore capable of processing and displaying high definition signals.
